GrandMas Plus Hotel Seminyak | TRAVEL

GrandMas Plus Hotel Seminyak, Bali

For my birthday this year, I decided I wanted to spend a week in Bali. January is a funny time of the year to have a birthday because most people are away on vacation or still recovering mentally, physically and financially from the Christmas/New Year period. I linked up with a friend who I met while travelling around Europe last year and we spent a lush week relaxing at GrandMas (pronounced Grand-Mas not Grandmas) Plus Hotel in Seminyak. Honestly, I lucked out finding this little gem and I had a lot of people asking me about it on Instagram so I thought I'd write up a little blog post about our stay!

Firstly here are some details about GrandMas Plus Hotel Seminyak!

Booked via:

Dates we stayed:
7th of January - 15th of January 2019

Type of Room:
Cozy Double with included breakfast
(Room #215 and #217)

Price per night:
$44.25 aud

About the Rooms
The rooms were super simple but had exactly what we needed. We both had a room to ourselves so we both had plenty of space within the rooms. However, I think it might be a tad tight in the rooms if say a couple or two people were sharing it. We travelled with hand luggage only, so we didn't need much room at all for our luggage. If you're travelling with a massive suitcase, you might find it difficult to use within the room. The bathroom is clean and small but again, it had everything we needed so we didn't complain. The aircon worked really well too. It was very good value for $44.25 aud a night, considering in most countries this is how much you would pay for a hostel bunk in a shared dorm!

Dining
The hotel has a restaurant called Miura and on top of the restaurant is this awesome bar called the Kinky Tiki Bar. The food was excellent at the restaurant and the cocktails at the Kinky Tiki Bar are AMAZING! Especially the Kinky Colada.

If you choose to have included breakfast in your room rated this is served in the Miura resturant. Every morning you are given a menu with 3 set breakfast menus. There are 3 variations to the menu so each day it's a little different. Each set comes with tea/coffee, an apple or orange juice, a bowl of fruit and a hot breakfast item.

About the Hotel & Inclusions
The hotel was awesome! It's a short walk from the beach (only 350metres!) and there were lots of shops, markets, groceries stores and restaurants within walking distance. There is an amazing Taco Truck that sits at the front of the hotel next door to GrandMas called What The Truck too! The staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. Some cool inclusions/activities you can do while staying at GrandMas are-
  •  A Free Painting Class (only $10 aud if you want to keep your artwork)
  • A Free Balinese offering making class (Every Tuesday, make sure you reserve a spot early!)
  • Free Bike Rental
  • Yoga Classes in the Villa next to GrandMas ($10 aud per class)
  • Cocktail Making Class ($7 and you get two cocktails, keep in mind cocktails are usually $8.5 each so this is a cool bargain!)
  • Free Towel Hire for the pool

The Hotel Spa, De Nyah Spa & Beauty
I had a lovely 2-hour treatment on my birthday at the De Nyah Spa & Beauty located on the top floor of the hotel and it was super professional and lovely. It cost $22.50 aud and included an hour-long Balinese massage, a facial and a body scrub. Very reasonable prices and great service.
