England & Scotland Contiki PART 1/3 | TRAVEL

Day 1
18th August 2017
London-Liverpool

After having our bags weighed to check we were all under 20kgs, we boarded the bus and headed off on a bus tour of London where our guide Treasa gave us some great facts and history about the city. We then headed onwards towards Liverpool with a quick service station stop on the way to grab some lucnh. Arriving into Liverpool we were greeted with some very moody weather. One minute the sun would be shining and the next it would be raining like crazy. So a quick trip to Primark was needed to get a few rain jackets. We had the afternoon to explore the city. I choose to check out the TATE art gallery and the Titanic exhibition. We joined up together again as a group and were treated to a buffet dinner of fish and chips in the hotel. The last activity for the evening was a visit to Cavern Club, where we enjoyed a dance and a few drinks.

Day 2
19th August 2017
Liverpool- York

We had such an epic Beatles history bus tour to start the morning in Liverpool. As someone who isn't too interested in the Beatles, the tour was extremely interesting and our guide told the stories in such a wonderful way. It continued to rain and shine throughout the morning. After the tour, we all boarded the bus and headed to York. York is such a gorgeous town and we had many options of things to do. We choose to get afternoon tea, which unfortunately took an hour to come out meaning we had to cull some other plans. The others went to the Viking experience while my roommate and myself decided to do a little shopping and wander around some more. Later that evening, we were treated to yet another incredible meal at a pub, this time being served a traditional roast dinner with Yorkshire pudding. We had the option of a ghost tour of York before we jumped back on the bus and headed to our hotel for the night.

Day 3
20th August 2017
York-Lake District

After an early start, we drove two hours to Windemere. The views of the lake were gorgeous and seeing it from our boat cruise was even nicer. We cruised along the river and saw lots of beautiful old fashioned lake houses and people out and about enjoying the day. After a quick lunch of homemade traditional pasties, we jumped back on the bus and headed towards Keswick where most of the group went and did outdoor activities such as rock climbing, archery and a high ropes course. I choose to go into town and explore instead. A small group of us wandered down to the river and eventually ended up in a tea house. We met back up with the group, and then drove to Carlisle where we had a free afternoon/evening to explore further and have dinner together.

Until next time,
